2/12/10 - Beta-Zeta Pins in Eight Assocaites for Spring 2010

On February 12th, Beta-Zeta pinned in eight new Associate Members as the Spring 2010 "Theta Class." Their Names are (front row, L-R) Kyle May, CJ Laden, Justin Hinson, Chris Justice, Taylor McGinnis, Ronnie Crawley, Zeb McSwain, and William Butler (not pictured). This class is the eighth for the Beta-Zeta Zeta since their return to campus in 2006.

11/22/09 - Crescent Ceremony 2009

On November 6, 2009, the Beta-Zeta Zeta pinned in three new Crescents. This year, the lucky ladies were (L-R) Shannon Guerin of Phi Mu, Emily Treadway, and Molly Smathers of Alpha Chi Omega. The ceremony was held in the Catamount Room of the UC on campus. As is the tradition, the brothers of Lambda Chi Alpha believe these ladies have shown commitment to not only their organizations, but Lambda Chi Alpha as well. The chapter feels these ladies exemplify our seven core values (LDRSHIP), and will continue to uphold these values in their time as Crescents for the rest of their college career. Before the ceremony, the brothers attended the ladies' chapter meetings and performed a song to serenade them and let them know they had been chosen as Crescents. As Crescents, the ladies can attend Rush events, all Lambda Chi Alpha socials, and are envied by all other sorority girls on campus.

10/12/09 - Watermelon Bust 2009 A Success

From September 28th through October 2nd, the Beta-Zeta Chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha hosted its third annual Watermelon Bust. As you may know, Watermelon Bust is a week-long philanthropy event hosted by the brothers that features a compeitition between the five sororities on campus. All week, they compete to raise money, canned foods, and win events to be crowned Watermelon Bust champions. This year, the events included a Watermelon Carve, Banner Contest, Dance Contest, and Miss Bust Pageant. This year's totals in money and pounds of food raised eclipsed last year's totals by a wide margin. 2008's food collection total was roughly 900 pounds of canned food, and this year we raised over 2200 pounds of canned food. We also raised over $1300, up from last year's total of $1100. The winning sorority this year was Alpha Chi Omega. This marks their first Bust victory, as the past two winners were Phi Mu and Alpha Gamma Delta. Congratulations to the winners, and check our photos section for more pictures from the week. Special thanks to our High Theta Tomas Sammons for organizing our most successful Bust yet!

The Winners - Alpha Chi Omega and their coach, Seth Calhoun.

10/12/09 - Beta-Zeta Pins in Four New Associates After Successful Rush

On September 25th, the Beta-Zeta Chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha officially pinned in four new Associate members for the Fall 2009 class. The new Associate Members are Mike Eid, Landon Stevenson, Travis Campbell, and Greg Reynolds. Rush week was a great success, as the brothers pride themselves on keeping their numbers on par with campus averages while always being selective and choosing only the best men to associate with the fraternity. Education begins in October.

The Beta Zeta-Zeta recently racked up the awards at the annual Greek award ceremony at Western Carolina University.  The men of Beta Zeta won the honors of IFC Highest Academic chapter, IFC Outstanding commitment to philanthropy and community service, IFC Chapter of the year, Greek Week Champions.  Brother Taylor Callicutt was recognized as Greek man of the year, and Brother Joseph Kellerman was given the unsung hero award. Lambda Chi Alpha led the way winning six out of the eight awards given at the ceremony. Brother Steven Johnson was elected IFC president and Brother Joseph Kellerman was elected as Vice-President of Judicial affairs. Lambda Chi Alpha has become one of the premier fraternities here on the Western Carolina campus.

2/22/09 - Beta-Zeta Hosts Why We're Greek Day

On February 21, 2009, the brothers of Lambda Chi Alpha organized a new event, entitled Why We're Greek Day. The project was created, planned, and executed by brother High Tau Taylor Callicutt. The idea behind Why We're Greek Day was to show the faculty, staff, other students, community, and each other why we're Greek by participating in large-scale community service projects around Jackson and Macon County. The brothers and the rest of the Greeks on campus worked together with The CareNet Food Bank in Franklin, NC, Project C.A.R.E., and Save Our Warmth. The service started as early as 8:00am and lasted until 6:00pm, when the brothers of Lambda Chi Alpha hosted a cookout in the UC to relax and celebrate the day of hard work. Overall, everyone involved had a great time, and it was a big step forward in promoting not only Greek philanthropy in the community, but Greek unity on our campus as well.

2/19/09 - Brother Canale Wins Tournament

Brother High Rho Anthony Canale competed in a campus wrestling tournament on 2/18/09 and went undefeated, becoming the wrestling champion on campus at WCU. While he was not representing Lambda Chi Alpha specifically (since there is no designation for those competing in this tournament), the brothers consider this a moral victory for the chapter. There will be no wresting tournaments this semester, but he is expected to return in 2010 to defend his title against any and all competitors.

11/25/08 - LXA Crescent Lauren Yates elected Phi Mu President!

On behalf of the brothers of the Beta-Zeta Zeta at Western Carolina University, we would like to congratulate one of our three new Crescents, Lauren Yates (pictured below) on being elected President of Phi Mu Fraternity on Sunday. She will take office this coming Spring semester as the leader of the Gamma-Mu Chapter. Her accomplishment has made the brothers of the Beta-Zeta Zeta proud, and it is obvious with her accomplishment and the accomplishments of our other crescents (Sarah Lail and Natalie Moore) that the men of our Zeta and Lambda Chi Alpha only choose the BEST sorority ladies to represent them! Congratulations, Lauren!
